Wonders of China (17 Days / 16 Nights)
China is an immense country where one could spend months travelling through its landscapes and still only touch the surface. The scenic wonders of China are there for all to see, from impressive archaeological sites and stunning dramatic scenery to the friendly charm of its people. This tour has been designed to showcase some of China’s most amazing sites, yet at the same time allow you a glimpse of the real China; that of its people, its rural backdrops and its ever emerging, cosmopolitan way of life.

This country has been an inspiration for photographers and artists alike for centuries. Along the way, discover bustling markets, sample traditional Chinese cuisine and gather an understanding of this fascinating land and it’s people. This tour will allow you to capture the true wonders of China and it will leave you longing to return.

Day To Day Itinerary:
Day 01:ARRIVE BEIJING
Upon arrival at Beijing airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02:BEIJING
This morning stroll through the famous Tiananmen Square, passing Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum before walking through the treasure-filled Forbidden City. This afternoon visit the 15th-century Temple of Heaven and enjoy a rickshaw ride through the traditional Hutong area. For dinner this evening sample the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’.

Day 03:BEIJING
An often quoted saying in Beijing goes ‘you have not been to China until you have climbed the Great Wall’. Built over 2,000 years ago, it stretches all the way from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west, more than 5,000km away. Walk along the wall, admire the panoramic views and reflect on the enormity of the material and labour required for its construction. This afternoon you will wander through the landscaped beauty of the Summer Palace and watch a fascinating acrobatic show.
Day 04:BEIJING TO XIAN
Fly to Xian this morning. Upon arrival visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum. This evening you will feast on a traditional Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet, a specialty of the region, whilst enjoying a performance of music and dance from the Tang Dynasty.
Day 05:XIAN
Today you will see one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. You will also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China. Later this afternoon wander through the lively Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets.
Day 06:: XIAN TO WUHAN - YANGTZE RIVER
Fly to Wuhan this morning. Upon arrival you will be transferred by coach (approximately 4-5 hours) to Yichang to board your cruise for the next four nights along one of the world's greatest waterways, the Yangtze River.
Day 07:YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE
Tour the Three Gorges Dam before cruising along the Yangtze River.
Day 08:YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE
Upon arrival in Xining this morning, visit the Ta’er Temple before transferring to the railway station to board your overnight train to Xian. (L)
Day 09:XIAN
Upon arrival at Xian railway station this morning your arrangements end.
